What is  micropenis?

As a micropenis we describe a normally structured penis that is below the normal size range for an infant. The micropenis condition is also known as a microphalllus. Normally, the length of a newborn boy's penis is between 2. 8 to 4. 2 centimeters with a circumference of 0. 9 to 1. 3 centimeters. This measurement is taken by carefully stretching the penis and it measuring from the tip of the penis to the base of the penis. A penis length that is than 1. 9 centimeters  is usually considered as a micropenis.

What causes the micropenis condition?

Micropenis can occur alone, however it usually occurs in combination with other disorders. Hormone disorders that cause an abnormal level of hormones which are involved into the development of the sexual organs may be seen in combination with microphallus. This can involve the pituitary gland or perhaps the hypothalamus.

What are the symptoms of microphallus?

The treatment for the micropenis condition  will be determined by your child's physician based on many factors including:

your child's age, overall health, and medical history

the extent of the micropenis condition

your child's tolerance for specific medications, procedures, or therapies

the exact expectations for the course of the condition

Please bear in mind that there is no true cure for micropenis. Hormone therapy may be indicated for some children to stimulate some penile growth. However reaching a normal penis length is still rare.
